- 1972 - *) The original "Mao" portraiture was painted in 1972, sized 448.3 x 346 cm. The motif was taken from Mao's little red book;" The Toughts of Chairman Mao". In 1974 Warhol held an exhibition named "Chairman Mao". The exhibition was a funny and ironic stroke, which were even reinforced as Warhol produced Chairman Mao wallpaper, acting as a backdrop for the paintings.  Fine Art Print Size:
